Cahuita

Located 45 km south of Puerto Limón and 1 km east of Hwy. 36, is a destination for tourist of all ages, that are looking for an escapist vacation.

What you get is golden and “black” and “white” sand beaches backed by coconut palms, an offshore coral reef, and an immersion in Creole culture. One of the most endearing aspects of life on the southern Caribbean coast is the large number of Rastafarians, with their broad smiles, dreadlocks, and a lifestyle that revolves around reggae and rasta, North of Cahuita village is a black-sand beach (Playa Negra) that runs for several miles.

Puerto Viejo

The village is famous for it's laid back surfer - rasta - hippie vibe. Puerto Viejo offers travelers beautiful palm studded beaches and excellent snorkeling, swimming, and surfing right in front of the town center. The small village is comprised mostly of bungalow hotels, restaurants, bars, and surf shops. Tourists that visit Puerto Viejo, generally come for the famous surf and night life.

Cultural: Bribri Indian Reservation - The indigenous people of Talamaca are part of the Amazon Basin Indian cultures and heritage. The Bribri speak their native language, Bribri, and Spanish, wear western clothes, and participate in regional political and economic life, but they also maintain beliefs and customs of their ancestors. The Talamanca-Bribri Reservation covers a large area of the interior Talamanca Mountains. Bribri people believe “Sibo” created all things on Earth, and that all things have supernatural guardians that permit human beings to kill wild animals and use forest products only as necessary for human subsistence. Through traditional agriculture, hunting, fishing, and use of forest products, the Bribri have maintained a respectful relationship with their natural environment. A visit to Rancho Grande, Volio waterfall and the KekoLdi Reserve is also included in this tour. At KekoLdi the Bribri are working to restore the threatened green iguana. You may also learn about medicinal plants & cures and organic agriculture or may acquire interesting handcrafts.

Adventure: You can find all types of adventure activities such as: canopy, rafting, surfing areas, horse back riding, hicking, etc.

Furthermore…Puerto Vargas, Playa Chiquita, Punta Uva, Gandoca Manzanillo, Tortuguero, Cahuita and Puerto Viejo are spots whorth knowing in a round trip, one good option is to rent a car and take adventage of the whole area in a pretty comfortable way. Poas Rent a Car is the only one car rental in the area and they deliver the car to you at the hotel.
