Ostional Beach, Nosara - Costa Rica

As time passes by, we get more anxious about their arrival. We have been waiting for this moment together with the local guides… and finally, here it is: turtles start to appear from the deep blue ocean. With their slow movements they crawl until they find the right place to start nesting their eggs and we are witness of such a spectacular event.

Every year, Ostional receives thousands of olive ridley sea turtles that, as if they had a GPS device, return to the beach were once they were born, but this time, to nest their own eggs. Since 1984, Ostional became Wild Life Refuge and gives the opportunity to local and foreign visitors to be part of the Arribadas which take place along the rainy season, but especially from August to October in Nosara, Guanacaste.
